Privacy policy

TestVocab is a free English vocabulary test. This page explains, in general terms, what information the site uses and why.

Information we collect

You do not need an account to use TestVocab, and we do not ask for your name or email address to take the test.

When you take the test, we keep your answers and your result so we can calculate your score, show your result page and produce anonymous statistics about how the test is used. Like most websites, we also receive some technical information automatically, such as your IP address, approximate location, browser type, the pages you visit and the site that referred you. We use this to run and improve the site, to understand how it is used and to prevent abuse.

If you write to us through the contact form, we keep your message and the contact details you provide so that we can reply.

Your results

Each result gets its own page with a unique link. Anyone who has that link can see the result, so share it only with people you want to see it. Results do not contain your name.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored in your browser. TestVocab uses them to remember preferences such as your language, to recognise results you created yourself, and to measure how the site is used.

We also use services from third parties, including Google Analytics for usage statistics and Google AdSense for advertising. These services may set their own cookies and collect information about your visit under their own privacy policies.

Advertising

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info. To learn more, see how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Where required by law, for example in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, you will be asked for your consent before personalised ads are shown.

Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Some parts of the site may not work as intended if you do.

How long we keep information

We keep information only for as long as it is useful for the purposes described here, or as long as the law requires.

Your choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask about the information we hold about you or to ask us to delete it. To make a request, contact us.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page.
